Closed Joint Stock Holding Company “Pinskdrev” History
Closed Joint Stock Holding Company “Pinskdrev” is the oldest enterprise in Pinsk and the whole woodworking industry of Belarus Republic, that commemorated anniversary of 130 years in 2010. In 1880 Austria-Hungarian capitalists Lurye brothers built on site of its present head building spike heel shoes, plywood and casegoods plywood factory. Upon which Pinsk match factory was erected in 1892 and Gorodische plywood factory in 1930. In the issue of their merge
a plywood-and-match works was founded the main line of which was plywood and matches and simple furniture in little quantities. 12 years later (1971) on the base of that plywood-and-match mill was founded woodworking enterprise “Pinskdrev”. It combined soft furniture and school furniture shops. Under the circumstances of command economy and centralized distribution and permanent growing shortage of goods the enterprise easily realized its products as there was no exigency to compete in the markets for recognizability of our products and for the high allegiance of clients. Nevertheless, it was the period when the brand “Pinskdrev” had been created and promoted. Under the circumstances of enterprise reorganization a decision was taken to name on the analogy of other woodworking enterprises (“Gomeldrev”, “Vitebskdrev” etc.)
Simultaneously, there was a process of original brand elaboration and became the basis the brand.
The 17th September, 1971, the Republic of Belarus State Patent Authority under the Council of Ministers of Belarus Republic registered in State recorder of trademarks its first brand “Pinskdrev”.
The brand was based on historical association - “Pinskdrev” began from matches manufacture.
With the lapse of time the brand lost its currency for in 1995 the enterprise combined 16 subsidiaries, and matches as a sort of output product became a second place, on the cutting edge
stood plywood and furniture. Thus, a decision was taken to change the brand.
In 1997, 25 of August a new brand appeared. Up till now the new brand is actively used in labels, accompanying in promotional materials etc. as well as it is admitted that the brand is recognizable for clients and customers. Thus the new corporate brand “Pinskdrev” was created
and nowadays the brand being used as the corporate name of the company and marks all the range of goods under its name. For the time being “Pinskdrev” company has the sole position strengthening its brand through impetuous growing volumes and assortment. It is becoming successful for CJSC “Pinskdrev” combines 27 subsidiaries.
Memorable dates:
1880 – foundation of factory for producing spike heel shoes and plywood casegoods
1882 – match mill foundation
1898 – Pinsk spike heel shoes-and-plywood mill was built
1909 – Joint Stock Company of match mills “Progress-Vulcan” was organized
1923 – in the estate of Albrekhtovo wood-sawing mill was established
1939 – match mill and plywood mill nationalization in 1959 on the base of match mill and plywood mill was organized plywood-and-match works.
1971 - on the base of Pinsk plywood-and-match works was organized manufacturing woodworking enterprise “Pinskdrev”.
1983 – incorporated in Pinsk timber industry enterprise
1985 - on the base of soft furniture and school furniture shops new outlets were established – Pinsk furniture works
1985-1986 – construction and putting into operation of sliced wood works
1987 – Gantsevichi timber industry enterprise “Luninetsles” was incorporated
1986 - 1989 using one’s own resources Gorodische furniture works was established
1990 - two timber industry enterprises were incorporated in one Pinsk timber industry enterprise
1984 - 1996 Pinsk soft furniture mill was enlarged using one’s own resources
1991 – went over to lease economic management
1992 – enterprise property passed into ownership of the employees resulting in “Pinskdrev” enterprise
1993-1995 - on the base of constructions parts shop was established and put into operation export furniture factory
1995 - enterprise restructing, resulting in 13 subsidiaries were incorporated as follows: Pinsk logging enterprise, plywood mill, chipboard factory, sliced wood and furniture works, match mill, Gorodische furniture works, forwarding company, planning construction and erection government, energy technical government, technical repair and erection government, retail trade and public catering government “Paparats”
1992-1996 – timber mill was erected on boggy plot of land, treating of tree-length material in low warehouse, technical repair base of timber mill sector
1997 – chair mill was organized and enhanced on the base of furniture shop
1998 – in exclusive economic zone was set up “Brest” unitary enterprise “Pinsk-Evro-Mebel”
1998-1999 - on the base of the bought out consumer cooperative and egg base were erected large furniture warehouses
1999 - on the base of the bought out the apartment management unit was set up the table mill
118-1999 - on the base was put into operation the lamination line, warehouses were reconstructed and constructed as well as a self-contained boiler room
1999 - on the base of the bought out areas in village of Pinkovichi soft furniture production was set up
2000 – collective enterprise “Pinskdrev” was transformed into Closed Joint Stock Company “Pinskdrev”
